Canada Trip

What a trip!  We drove up on Wednesday and Thursday.  Friday was Levi and Amy's wedding day!  It was such a great day!  We went to the beautiful sealing, it made that long drive so worth being there.  We got to meet Leland and Brittany's baby Gideon.  Then there was a luncheon with performances, so fun!  Maelie sang a solo to 'Dear Future Husband' and did amazing, she got so many compliments.  Kyla helped her cousins with a way cute puppet show.  Levi performed an amazing song he had written for Amy.  The reception was at night. Maelie caught the bouquet.  It was a great day!

Saturday we went to Waterton Lakes National Park. We had lunch and played at the lake.  Then we went to the park and the candy store there.

Sunday we went to church, the cemetery and the temple. The kids made temples out of marshmallows and toothpicks.  Great day!  The kids love playing with their cousins.

Monday we went up to Calgary to spend the day at Calaway Park.  The kids love that place.  At lunch time it poured for about an hour and a half.  We were worried the park would shut down.  But it just cooled us off and got rid of the crowds.  So the rest of the day was perfect weather and short lines.  Such a fun day!  When we got home Levi and Amy were home from their honeymoon, opening presents.

Tuesday we hung out around the house.  Then we went to ride quads, ride the man lift, set off fireworks, and play at Wally's Beach.

Wednesday was Maelie's birthday, Jonas' parents Anniversary, and Beckett's sealing day!  We made german pancake breakfast for Maelie while Tonya, Andrea, and Elizabeth made omelet breakfast for Jonas' parents.  We had Maelie's cake at 10:59 am when she was born.  An ice cream cake from DQ, yum!  She opened her presents.  Everyone was so thoughtful.  The kids had a cute little party for Maelie. We went to the sealing of Beckett to Jonas' brother Tim, his wife Janay, and their other adopted kids Elissa and Pilot.  It was such a beautiful moment.  I'm so glad we were able to be there.  We got the kids and went for slushies and poutine.  Then we took some of the cousins to the Cardston museum.  Then we had a dinner celebration for Beckett and his family.  It was a great time!  We all sang to Maelie.

That night there was a tragic accident in the family.  Levi, Amy, Nephi, Andea, Tonya and Jessica went out bridge jumping.  Levi brought some tannerite and fireworks.  He was down by the river lighting it up when it blew up in his hand.  They were able to call 911 and get him up the hill to the truck.  They met the ambulance on the road and got him to the hospital.  We were at Jonas' parents house when the call came in.  Jonas went to give Levi a blessing with his Dad.  Jonas said he was covered in blood and his left hand was hanging off.  He was stabilized and taken to the airport where he took a plane to a hospital in Calgary.  Thursday he had some surgeries done.  They amputated his hand and worked on his eye.  His hearing is amazingly fine.  He had lots of shrapnel in his body that had to be taken out.  There is a chunk out of his ear and out of his knee.

It was really hard for us to leave on Thursday to go home.  We wanted to be there, we wanted to see Levi ok again.  It's going to be very hard for him to have lost his hand.  He has amazing musical talent.  He just got married 5 days ago.  He has a tree cutting business.  Levi and Amy were going to take off on a trip to Thailand next month.  We have heard that he looks a lot better, just swollen and healing. His face is swollen because he cracked his cheek bone.  This morning he woke up for a little bit, recognized Amy and his mom's voice and then was put back to sleep when his heart rate began to climb.

Jonas says that he felt such a strong feeling of peace and love when he gave him a blessing.  All of this was supposed to happen and Heavenly Father is going to help them through this trial.  For now, we are praying hard for them and thinking of them all the time.

What a weird trip, it feels like maybe it didn't even happen at all!
