Christmas Letter

Merry Christmas from the Stanford Family 2013
Maelie is 9 and in 4th grade.  She was in the school spelling bee and was voted the class representative.  She has enjoyed reading Harry Potter this year and just finished #5.  She has enjoyed her musical theater class and did awesome in her performance. She also still enjoys piano lessons.  Her favorite things to do are sing and do anything crafty.  She is a fantastic biggest sister and the peacemaker in our home.
Kyla is almost 8 and in 2nd grade.  She has done awesome with the transition to a new school this year and made lots of new friends.  She has also started to read Harry Potter and just finished #1.  She has loved taking Trampoline and Tumbling for the past 4 months.  She has mastered her front flip and is now working on a back flip.  She also enjoys being in musical theater this year and was the cutest little Rudolph in her show where she sang her first solo.  She is looking forward to her baptism in February!
Jaxon is 5 ½ and started kindergarten this year.  He loves his teacher and his new friends at school.  He is doing so awesome and learning so much about letters and numbers and is so close to counting to 100 on his own!  He says his favorite word is the. J  His favorite thing to do is practice his sight words with Sharpie, everywhere!  He loves to play with toys, go to the park, and ride his bike.  He is looking forward to trying out tee ball in the spring.
Canyon is 2 and definitely a curious little guy!  He has broken our TV, put a hole in our wall, and given his mom a cause for eye surgery but we love him anyway.  It’s a good thing he is cute or we would have sent him back a long time ago!  He is starting to talk and it is so fun to hear him say new words.  His newest words are uh oh, help, juice, and I love you.  He loves his Transformers, cars and trains.  His favorite thing to do is go to the park and swing.  He is a fast little runner!
This past summer we moved from Chandler to Gilbert and are loving our new home but also still miss parts of our old home and area.  Jonas has finished one semester of his MBA - 5 more to go!  He is still working at Orbital Sciences but has changed titles from Mechanical Engineer to Software Design Engineer.  He keeps busy teaching Kyla’s primary class and I (Mistie) get to be a Wolf Den Leader in the Cub Scouts.  We are looking forward to going to Canada for Jonas’ little brother’s wedding the day after Christmas!  Brrrrr!!!
We love each of you and feel so blessed to have you in our lives.  We hope that you have a fabulous Christmas and a happy 2014!!

We love Christmas lights!

Finally got some lights up on our house. Better late then never.  And better some than nothing!

Last night we went to see the temple lights!

12K and Nutcracker

Saturday I ran the longest distance I have ever run.  It was a Christmas 12K.  I ran it with my sister in law Kristin and her sister Tara.  It was a lot of fun, but so hard!  I didn't run the whole thing, I had to walk some.  Next time I will be better prepared!  My time was 1:43:16.  I was just glad I finished, ha!

Right after that I had a quick shower and then took Maelie and Kyla to see the Nutrcracker.  Such a fun tradition with my cute girls.  It was fun sitting with my Mom and Dad, Shannon, and Kelly and Kaden.  Kailin and Karsyn did so awesome!!

After that we took the Traverse back and went to Cafe Zupas as a family.  I have never tried that place and it was so yummy!  Then we went home and it was bath and bed time.  What a busy fun day!!

just a little bit of randomness

We did some car shopping and chose a Chevy Traverse as a dream car.  This is us looking at a Traverse.  We actually bought a different one and took it back 3 days later after we came to our senses and realized that a free car is better than an expensive car.  Oh well.  Maybe when Jonas is done with school.

The kids were matching one day when they left for school, I love this pic!

sick boys

Both boys have ear infections, this is what they do on sick days! :)

Santa's Stuck in the 50's

Maelie and Kyla have been in musical theater.  Aunt Shannon is the teacher and I am the assistant.  It's been so fun!  The girls really enjoyed their show on Saturday.  Maelie was a head elf and a news caster.  Kyla was Rudolph.  Cousins Kailin, Karsyn, and Ethan were also in it.  They both did awesome on their speaking parts and singing solos.  So fun!!
